Mia is an Interpreter and Animal Care Specialist at Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, where she gets to combine her love of wildlife, animal care, and the outdoors every day. After spending the past few years getting to know the Sanctuary’s wolfdogs, Mia has developed a particular appreciation for the unique personalities, relationships, and stories that make each animal who they are.
One of her favourite parts of working at the Sanctuary is simply watching the wolfdogs be themselves. Mia especially enjoys observing their behaviour, seeing them use the natural space they have to explore, play, rest, and interact, and noticing the different relationships and dynamics within the packs throughout the Sanctuary. She loves sharing these quieter moments with guests and encouraging them to slow down, observe, and appreciate the wolfdogs in their natural environment.
Outside of the Sanctuary, Mia can usually be found exploring the mountains. Winter is her favourite season, and she loves snowboarding, hiking, camping, and mountain biking throughout the Rockies. She is passionate about the connection between wildlife and the wild landscapes they call home, and is excited to share that passion with guests during their visit.
